• Bamboo clothing is UV protective (it cuts out 98% of harmful UV rays) and antibacterial. This makes it ideal for sensitive or allergy prone skin.
This quality has helped bamboo become incredibly successful in the wild. The plant itself kills on contact almost all types of bacterial pests that try to grow on it.

Bamboo fiber made into socks can stop foot odor and prevent athletes’ foot. Operating masks and gowns have been produced to help prevent cross infection in sterile environments. Bamboo fabric will also resist yeast, mould and fungus cultivation.

No other fabric has this quality so where your cotton shirts will eventually show signs of yellowing in the pits, the antibacterial matter will kill the bacteria in sweat thus ensuring that your shirts retain a clean, fresh appearance. The natural antibacterial qualities of bamboo will also help naturally eliminate odors.
//-->

• Bamboo fabric absorbs and evaporates sweat in a split second, is anti static, so it sits very well next to skin because it doesn’t stick to it. Its extraordinary natural breathability keeps you comfortable and dry for longer.
It’s well documented that bamboo absorbs moisture far more efficiently than cotton.
Most active individuals, whether hikers, cyclists, climbers or fisherman, will tell you that cotton is the best textile to use as a base layer because it breathes and it absorbs moisture, thus keeping the wearer warm, dry and comfortable. Bamboo breathes as well as cotton, but it absorbs moisture twice more than cotton and let’s it evaporate in seconds, keeping the wearer dry for far longer than cotton has ever been able to.

• Bamboo Thermo-control qualities: bamboo fabric is highly breathable in hot weather and also keeps you significantly warmer in the cold keeping you more comfortable in all temperatures.
One of the reasons why bamboo garments are taking the fashion industry by a storm is the fabric’s amazing breathability.
If you’ve ever touched bamboo you’ll have noticed that even when the air temperature’s soaring, bamboo remains cool. The bamboo plant’s fiber has the ability to remain cool even in its fabric form. In fact, compared with cotton and other comparable fabrics, bamboo garments are 2-3 degrees cooler in warm weather.

Each fiber in bamboo plants is filled with thousands of micro-openings (tiny holes), each of which acts as an insulator offering excellent moisture absorption and increased ventilation.
When worn during hot weather, bamboo clothing helps keep the wearer feeling cooler and fresher, especially because the fabric doesn’t stick to the skin, a problem that’s guaranteed to make you feel uncomfortable during summer.

Because bamboo garments breathe, they’re also useful during winter. Most of us have heard that several thin layers are warmer than one thick layer but if those layers don’t breathe, we can soon start feeling clammy and moisture rashes can appear on the skin. Thanks to the fact that bamboo garments breathe, the air circulates easily and moisture escapes, keeping us warm, dry and comfortable.

•Bamboo is set to revolutionize the clothing industry because, quite simply, it has all the advantages of cotton plus durability.
There’s absolutely no doubt that cotton is comfortable to wear but because bamboo fiber is very thin, hollow and perfectly round, it’s much lighter and softer than cotton. By twisting several fibers together, bamboo can be made into clothing of the same thickness ranges as cotton but will feel much softer against the skin. The thinness of its fibers doesn’t make bamboo clothing less resilient to wear and tear. Bamboo fibers are actually extremely resistant. One of the reasons cotton is such a popular textile is due to its ease of maintenance. You can throw it in the washing machine, put it in the tumble dryer and iron it time and time again and it still looks good. So it is with bamboo textiles, too.

Bamboo clothes are easier to iron at lower temperature in order to keep them looking good, which will ultimately save on energy use. Because of its deodorizing qualities, bamboo fabrics will also refresh with just a rinse in cold water.

•Bamboo is 100% naturally grown, 100% sustainable and the bamboo fiber is 100% biodegradable
According to the World Wildlife Federation, the carcinogenic and ecologically unfriendly agrochemicals used in large scale cotton production have been associated with the loss of bio-diversity in the regions where cotton is grown while bamboo propagation doesn’t require fungicides or pesticides and could provide a sustainable income to farmers in some of the world’s poorest areas.
As the fastest growing plant in the world, bamboo grows to its maximum height in about 3 months and reaches maturity in 3-4 years. It spreads rapidly across large areas. Because of this, bamboo is known to improve soil quality in degraded and eroded areas of land.
A key factor in these patterns may be a natural hormone called melatonin.

Melatonin is a naturally occurring bodily hormone, whose levels rise at night and fall during the day. It is produced by our pineal gland, responsible for your body’s patterns and rhythms, During the day, the pineal is inactive, however, as the sun goes down, darkness activates the pineal, and melatonin production begins. When melatonin levels in our blood rise, we become sleepy and the next morning, with daylight, melatonin decreases and we are alert again.
Melatonin levels rise for about 12 hours, from around 9:00 p.m until approximately 9:00 a.m. Although the time of the night and day affects melatonin levels, light and darkness can be even more important factors. In addition to sunlight, artificial indoor lighting can be bright enough to prevent its release. This may be a special problem for shift workers, particularly those who work late night/early morning rotations. First, natural body rhythms encourage night time sleepiness, but bright indoor lighting can help them stay awake. At the conclusion of their shifts, they go into the daylight, which further inhibits the release of the melatonin needed to help them sleep when they get home.

One of the major functions of melatonin supplements is to readjust the body’s biological clock thereby treating insomnia, jet lag and other sleep disorders.
In addition to its hypnotic properties (inducing or maintaining sleep), melatonin may also act as a chronobiotic (or circadian) drug, since if taken at appropriate times, it has been found to advance or delay the sleep-wake cycle. Depending on when it is taken, melatonin can re-set the circadian clock that affects alertness and sleepiness, a characteristic that can be helpful for travelers suffering from jet lag.

People who decide to take melatonin should stick with the recommended dosage because like all hormonal supplements, it also has potential side effects but there are natural products on the market that contain melatonin in safe, recommended dosages along with other therapeutic nutrients that can enhance its effectiveness.

The appropriate dose can vary enormously from person to person. For example with tablets (or capsules) of 1 mg and 3 mg the initial dose should be a 1mg tablet (or capsule) each night before bed-time, increasing it gradually if needed.
People who take melatonin should normally wake up refreshed and full of energy. Waking up feeling a little tired you should reduce your dosage until you wake up feeling well refreshed.
Melatonin should only be taken at nighttime, usually about thirty minutes prior to going to bed. If you are traveling on a long trip you may want to take a dosage prior to getting on your flight and a higher dosage pill prior to going to bed.
Melatonin is one of the least toxic substances known. The only consistent side effect of high doses has been drowsiness and a slower reaction time. However pregnant or nursing women should avoid it (since whether excessive exposure to the hormone might affect a fetus or infant is unknown) as well as people with severe allergies or autoimmune diseases (melatonin could exacerbate such conditions by stimulating the immune system) and healthy children (who already produce it in abundance).
Women trying to conceive should also think twice about taking the hormone, since high doses can act as a contraceptive.
As with any substance introduced into your body, if you have a medical condition you should always consult your physician first before taking melatonin.
Melatonin is claimed to have also anti-aging properties.
Some tests on mice have shown that melatonin caused a significant 20% increase in their lifespan.
If melatonin does allow you to live longer and healthier it could do so because melatonin may reduce free radical damage; stimulate an aging immune system; protect the cardiovascular system; preserve a youthful circadian rhythm; stimulate the production of growth hormone.

Do you know what it takes to unite your body, mind, and soul? If you did, do you realize that you would be able to achieve the balance that nearly everyone wishes they had in their lives? Do you know what you need to do for yourself in order to bring about this balance?

Part of uniting these three elements of your person is knowing what makes you passionate. Knowing what makes you passionate will help you get in touch with your soul, to feel creative energy, to feel truly alive. Spiritual or creative passion can help you to achieve those feelings. Whether its through faith, music, or some other type of artistic expression, you must find what will awaken your soul in order to strike balance in your life. Here are some tips to guide you:
<!--
google_ad_client = "pub-4898956643360480";
/* 468x60, 2march */

What are your goals for the future? What would you like to ultimately achieve in your life? Is it spiritual enlightenment? Is it social status? Or is it merely to be the best person you can be, and make a contribution to society? What is important, though, is the process by which you attain your ultimate goal. That is what will generate your passion.
Try to focus on the positive, and do not dwell on the negative. Recall you accomplishments and good deeds. Doing this will help keep you positive, and keep your spirit up. If you constantly remind yourself of your mistakes, you will find it harder to succeed down the road, and your mind, body, and soul will work against you.
Youve heard of finding your happy place right? This form of meditation helps you take your mind and spirit to a comfortable place that fills you with happiness. This is an ideal thing to do when you are in the middle of a stressful day at work or with the kids; it provides the perfect opportunity to regroup.
Spark a change. Plan a vacation, even if it is just for a weekend. Nothing does the body, mind, and soul better than a little change of scenery. Go where you will be happy, and be able to let loose and have some fun. Try it on your own. It might sound scary, but you will be surprised at how relaxed and refreshed you will be after a weekend all to yourself!
Try some daily affirmations. Pick three things that you can say out loud in the mirror that will help you stay centered, positive, and focused. Saying something often enough has the power to make it true for you. Remember not to dwell on the negative, focus on the positive.
Three basic affirmations that you can work from include:
o I am safe and secure.
o The Universe gives me everything that I need.
o My income will continue to increase.

1 Eat before a night drinking: alcohol without food gets absorbed much more (as if it was poured directly in the bloodstream) and while the liver works hard to deal with it, it cannot metabolise glucose well with the result that blood sugar levels drop producing shakes and sweats. The heart pumps harder, resulting in a rise in blood pressure (which is also why some people suffer heart attacks the morning after).
Munching on fatty food (kebabs, hot dogs etc.) on the way home will only worsen the situation.

2 Do not underestimate genetics: there is a different quantity of enzymes in the stomach to break down alcohol between sexes (women have less therefore they get drunk quicker).
The good news on that is women as they get older catch up with men in terms of fat-muscle (and enzymes) ratio and their brain shrinks slightly too making them less prone to headache.
3 Prevent dehydration: alcohol has diuretic properties, so while drinking kidneys produce more urine than normal which will deplete the blood levels of sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium.
Alcohol causes swelling in the brain which results in the typical headache. This can be avoided by alternating an alcoholic drink with a soft drink to maintain hydration. Drinking a pint of water before going to sleep actually works.

4 Know what you are dealing with: despite brands and types all alcohol works the same way when it comes to hangover. What counts is actually what is mixed with it: browner drinks (such as rum, brandy, whisky and port) generally cause heavier hangover than transparent spirits (vodka in particular is least likely to cause a heavy hangover because it’s repeatedly filtered to remove impurities). Beer is the least dangerous to drink but the most calorie-rich (1 pint equals more or less 170/200 calories)

5 Know that taking painkillers to cure hangover is dangerous: aspirin irritates the stomach and can cause bleeding while paracetamol triggers liver damage if combined with alcohol.

Apparently there is no evidence of the effectiveness of artichoke extract and yeast (main ingredients in hangover pills).

The best way to avoid hangover is taking the precautions above the night before as the only cure for it is waiting until it goes .

There is no set RDA for the intake of water but it varies from person to person (some tend to retain eccess water, some don’t).

Water enters the body when we drink and is removed primarily in the urine and sweat.
The amount of water in the body is regulated to control the levels of certain compounds, such as salt, in the blood.

If you drink too much water, eventually the kidneys will not be able to work fast enough to remove sufficient amounts from the body, so the blood becomes more dilute with low salt concentrations.

According to a professor in clinical chemistry and forensic toxicology in Sheffield, drinking too much water lowers the concentration of salt in your blood so that it is lower than the concentration of salt in cells.
Water without salt in the body will cause swelling (apparently if you put salty water on onion skin the cells will shrink, if you put too much water on it the cells will swell).

The water then moves from diluting blood to the cells and organs. When the swelling gets to the brain the pressure increases in the skull and you may get a headache. When the brain is squeezed it compresses vital regions regulating functions such as breathing.
Eventually these functions will be impaired and you are likely to stop breathing and die.
Warning signs included confusion and headaches. Symptoms would normally occur very soon after drinking the water, but if the gut is absorbing the water more slowly then it can take longer. Treatment available for this type of sympthoms includes diuretics and drugs to reduce the swelling.

It is also a myth that “drinking more water helps clear out toxins”:
Kidneys filter toxins from our bloodstreams. Then the toxins clear through the urine. But drinking extra water each day does not improve the function of the kidneys. In fact, drinking large amounts of water surprisingly tends to reduce the kidney’s ability to function as a filter. It’s a slow but definite decline.

Drinking several litres over a relatively short period of time could be enough to cause water intoxication. Those most at risk include people taking ecstasy (this drug increases thirst and promotes the release of anti-diuretic hormones so more water is taken in but cannot be excreted) and elderly people (kidney function may be impaired).

We lose water all the time and so need to replace it and in normal circumstances should aim to drink about one and a half litres every day. During hot weather or exercise more should be consumed as dehydration can lead to bad breath, tiredness and a higher risk of bladder infections. However 1 litre and a half may be too much if you are going to the toilet more than once every two hours or so, especially if your urine is clear.

Our advice: Just drink when you’re thirsty and if you get thirsty very often also have a green, white or herbal tea rather than simple water.

Supplements for smokers help to replenish the body with antioxidants (avoiding synthetic betacarotene) to combat the aging effect of smoking and cleansing the lungs from the tar to decrease the chances of developing lung cancer.

Taking supplements of the vitamin A precursor betacarotene may increase the risk of colorectal cancer in smokers and drinkers, according to recent studies. These studies found that beta-carotene supplementation was associated with an increased risk of lung cancer, particularly among those who also drank alcohol.

Below I selected products for lung cleansing and smokers supplements for you to buy if you need. Those products can help both those willing to quit smoking and the ‘die hard’ smokers. Obviously those who quit will do more of a favour to their overall wellness and to their skin
To that you should add a detox tea to sip in the evening before going to sleep. It will help in the process…

In holistic healing, tourmaline is known for a range of healing properties (enhancing mental alertness, increasing self-confidence, and strengthening the psychic energy) that vary according to the color of the gem:

Black tourmaline has been used since ancient times to deflect negative energy. It is linked to the root chakra and spiritual grounding in energetic healing and is used for treating anxiety, nervous disorders, kidney and adrenal problems, and heart disease. Black tourmaline is also thought to boost immune function and shield the body from the effects of radiation.

Pink Tourmaline balances the feminine and masculine aspects within a woman, empowering her to reach her full potential. It carries the feminine ray, which vitalizes the feminine aspect in all living beings. The powerful light that Pink Tourmaline draws to the body dissolves both the symptoms and causes of physical conditions, especially those of the female reproductive organs. Pink Tourmaline helps a woman understand and come to peace with her feminine and masculine selves as it fosters the inner harmony and strength she needs to develop her true feminine power.

Green Tourmaline balances the masculine and feminine aspects within man, empowering him to realize his full potential. It carries the masculine ray, which vitalizes the masculine aspect in all living beings. Green Tourmaline strengthens every molecule in a man’s body, tonifies his reproductive system, and reverses any disharmonious tendencies in his body, emotions, and mind. Green Tourmaline broadens a man’s awareness as it maximizes the flow of his life force, granting him courage, vigor, and vitality.

The first tourmaline, discovered in 1703 in Sri Lanka, was transparent. Hence, the gemstone was first used as imitation diamond. However, gradually it became clear that tourmaline possessed some amazing qualities of its own. For instance, it was observed that tourmaline crystal warmed by sunlight demonstrated the mysterious ability to attract and repulse lightweight objects. Moreover, although bronchial ailments are generally common among miners, workers in Brazilian tourmaline mines were found to suffer fewer such illnesses.

Scientists have long been intrigued by the unique electrical and magnetic properties of tourmaline. The inventor of the lightning rod Benjamin Franklin possessed at least one tourmaline stone which he apparently used in his experiments. In 1880, Pierre Curie, co-recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics (with his wife, the famous Marie Curie), discovered with his brother Jacques, a mineralogist, that tourmaline carries a weak electric charge when it is heated (pyro-electricity) or when pressure is applied to its surface (piezoelectricity). Later, research in Japan confirmed that tourmaline carries a faint but constant electric charge, which is why tourmaline continues to be known as “the electric stone,” especially in Asia. Japanese researchers also found that no matter how small tourmaline is ground or crushed, it is still capable of conveying an electric current. This helps explain the effectiveness of the tourmaline granules in Ki Flow Ion Therapy Jewelry.
